Making a rental property a home can sometimes be a bit of a challenge. However, styling a bedroom to suit your personal taste is quick and easy if you follow our top tips.
Hang artwork
If you’re not a fan of the colour of your bedroom walls and your landlord won’t let you paint over them then hanging artwork is a great solution.
Choose pieces that you love and arrange them in the same coloured frames for a cohesive look. You could even create your own gallery wall behind your bed for a real statement feature.
Swap your headboard

Update your rental bedroom by swapping out your headboard. Choosing a bold design will immediately draw the eye and make a feature of your bed – it can take up the majority of the space of one wall, after all.
If you’re a keen crafter, you could try making your own using old wooden palettes for an on-trend rustic look.
Lay a rug

An easy way to cover unsightly floors is to lay a rug (or two). A popular trend right now is layering textured rugs, just like Next have done in the bedroom scheme pictured above.
Choose a large rug to lay under your bed and layer with faux fur designs to mix up interior styles.
Change the curtains

Changing the curtains can make a big difference to the overall look of your bedroom. You could keep things simple by choosing a subtle monochrome design or, if you want to add a touch of glamour, opt for luxurious velvet curtains.
Remember to keep the original curtains somewhere safe for when you decide to move out to ensure you get back your deposit.
Bring in plants

Sometimes, styling up a space can be as easy as adding the odd accessory or two. Plants are a great way of bringing life and colour into your bedroom.
Make a feature out of your plants by housing them in pots at different heights. Legged plant stands and macrame hangers are both on-trend options.
Choose the right lighting

Making a space your own is all about creating the right atmosphere. A bedroom should be a place where you go to relax and feel at your most comfortable.
A big factor in making a bedroom feel cosy is the lighting you choose. A lamp that gives off a warm glow is the perfect solution, or how about hanging some fairy lights to make it feel like a cosy den or a snug?
