Quality home furnishing brand Blinds Direct has launched a nationwide competition for aspiring degree-level design students. The lucky winner of the competition will be able to see their work on a range of interior decor products that will be available on the company’s website. Sounds great right? How to enter
This year the BD Design Challenge will be celebrating individuality. Subsequently, the company are asking for submissions around the question ‘who am I?’, which is sure to be inspiring for many.
Entering the competition couldn’t be easier! Designers simply upload their final design, a scan of their student ID and 200-word biography to a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) service and send the link to [email protected].

The prize
Designers are invited to answer this challenge via a design that’s both abstract yet appealing to the public. The winning entry will appear in a special range of homeware products including:
- Roman blinds
- Roller blinds
- Cushions
- Lampshades
- Curtains
Furthermore, the winner will also win £500 and be featured in an article for the December issue of our very own Good Homes magazine and will be invited to provide a quote about their designs and experience.
Additionally, the top three entrants to the competition will be awarded a lampshade and cushion created from their very own design.

The judging panel
The judging panel is filled with experts from Blinds Direct’s talented design team. Therefore, the judges are primed to use their extensive experience and knowledge in design and textiles to pick a winner from what is expected to be a competitive field
Moreover, our own editor Karen Walker is joining the panel as a guest judge!
Open and closing dates
The competition opens on 12th July 2021 and will run until 31st August.
