The hub of this family home in Hertfordshire, this bright, light kitchen space opens out onto a dining area, and down to a sitting room which enjoys French windows out onto a beautiful garden.
Choosing the Nickleby kitchen from Humphrey Munson to create a design that works for both cooking and entertaining, a soft colour palette of white and grey fosters a serene yet luxurious feel in the space.
However, as beautiful as this kitchen may be on the outside, its hidden wonders are what have really inspired us. The kitchen makes great use of two hidden pantries for storing dry goods and baking supplies keeping countertops clear of visual clutter.
We’re breaking down the clever ways this family have used storage throughout the kitchen space – make sure you scroll down to see what awaits you when you open the cutlery drawer – we’ve got serious storage envy!
Peninsula breakfast bar

A peninsula style breakfast bar was chosen to suit the L-shape of the kitchen, leaving far more room to traverse the space than an island would have. As well as providing somewhere for the kids to sit during dinner and meal times, the breakfast bar has 6 drawers on the kitchen side for precious extra storage.
Bespoke cooker hood

Whatever angle you’re at in the kitchen, the striking false chimney cooker hood is a real focal point for the space. Behind the Falcon range cooker, an antiqued glass splashback bounces light around the room, as well as allowing anyone cooking on the hob to keep an eye on what’s happening in the rest of the kitchen.
In-frame cabinetry

The Nickleby in-frame Shaker style cabinetry from Humphrey Munson offers a clean-lined finish to the space. Even where a large American-style freestanding fridge freezer has been chosen to suit this family’s needs, it’s encased in cabinetry to make use of left over room above for extra storage.
Custom drawers

Storage for mugs can be a tricky element to incorporate into a kitchen design without stacking, but these bespoke drawers have been crafted deep enough to contain not only the family’s cutlery, but for their mugs too.
Adaptable storage

A pegboard-style panel has been added to the bottom of the pull-out pan drawers, giving flexible options for stacking plates tidily and keeping everything organised.
