There is no denying that different colours have to power to make us feel a certain way. Harveys have teamed up with renowned colour psychology expert Karen Haller to discover which colours you can incorporate into your living space to help inspire and improve your well-being.
Love is in the air

‘Red is a colour which is physically stimulating, in the context of love, communicates passion; the hot and steamy side of romance,’ says Haller.
Pink technically falls into the red category. Soft pink is a colour that is soothing and nurturing, so would suit a bedroom or cosy area – we’re even seeing pink become a popular colour in bathrooms. A pink sofa would be a great option to experience ultimate comfort.
Red is also the colour of action and should give you more energy in the context of health and fitness.

‘Dark blue is the colour of the mind. This is the colour to help focus, using logic and reasoning. It’s the ideal colour when focussing on financial matters,’ explains Haller.
The darker shades of blue are authorative and have a sense of grandeur, therefore implementing this into your kitchen can reinforce the fact that it’s the heart of the home.

Orange is a colour that encourages fun, joyous social occasions, where everyone is chatting, laughing and having fun,’ says Haller.
It’s warm, bright and naturally makes us feel happy! This is why we think orange works really well in a living space. Consider different shades such as peach and terracotta, to make orange suit your own personal style. Check out some of ideas for bringing orange into your home.

‘Sometimes we need that bit of extra self-confidence to try something new or to do something that we always wanted to do on our own,’ says Haller.
‘Yellow is the colour that lifts our spirits and our mood; it’s how we feel when the sun is shining. It fills us with optimism and confidence.’
