Stay cosy with an all-in-one stove and chimney system

With the recent hikes in gas prices, we’re all looking for ways to reduce our energy bills. One way to be less reliant on gas is to include a highly efficient all-in-one wood-burning stove and chimney system from Schiedel.

High efficiency stoves

As well as making sure your new wood-burning stove looks great and provide the heat you need, you’ll want to be sure it’s safe, emitting the minimum of harmful particles into the environment. If you live in a smoke control area (check with your local council) look out for a Defra exempt label, which guarantees the stove comes within safe limits.

New stoves must also be Ecodesign ready, achieving the new Defra standard required for all stoves from this year. Sirius and Celsius stoves from Schiedel also meet the ClearSkies Level 5, which is a 30% improvement on Ecodesign stoves. This is a new independent, UK wide, wood-burning stove certification scheme from SIA (Stove Industry Alliance).

A safe chimney

Getting the right chimney and connections is just as important as choosing a stove. This is where an all-in-one stove and chimney system is a bonus, cutting out any complications from the outset. Schiedel chimney and stove systems go from ground floor to the roof, with all components included, to avoid any fitting or quality issues.

In the Sirius Stove Package a stylish energy-efficient freestanding stove matches up with the technologically advanced Permeter chimney system. This concentric flue allows for an air-tight installation, keeping the combustion air independent from your room. It can be placed just where you need it and no separate air channel adaptor or bypass is necessary. The system is completely safe for timber frame buildings or log cabins.

Insert stove

Dreaming of a contemporary look with clean lines? An insert stove could be the luxurious answer. The Schiedel Celsius Package of stove and chimney, ideal for a new self-build home, can be placed anywhere in the house as the air supply is integrated and can be integrated into a non-combustible wall.

The stylish Celsius insert stove, with two convection grilles for even heat distribution, slots neatly into a volcanic pumice insulation frame. The stove height can be changed easily to suit your home with additional chimney modules. Further volcanic blocks form the chimney itself.

Pumice block chimney

Schiedel chimneys are built from pumice blocks. Acting as a natural insulator, pumice blocks allow the flue gases in the chimney to quickly reach their optimum temperature, for optimum performance of the stove shortly after lighting. Pumice also keeps the chimney warmer longer as the heat output of the stove decreases, for better performance and less likelihood of condensation and soot build-up.

Lightweight pumice expands and contracts only minimally with temperature change, reducing the possibility of cracking and structural damage. Schiedel’s pumice is all natural and sourced from the Hekla Volcano in Iceland.
